My Experience at the 2022 Army-Navy Game

It was a game that I had always wanted to go to. America's Game. The Army-Navy Game. This year's game took place in Philadelphia , as is the traditional home of the game. From the moment I got there, the buzz was palpable. Army and Navy flags were everywhere and the smell of tailgate barbecue filled the air. There was an AC/DC cover band performing at the tailgate. They were not half bad and they even drew a mosh pit around them.

It was amazing to watch the parachuters parachute down onto the field and then the jets flying over Lincoln Financial Field afterwards. That part gave me goosebumps and adrenaline like never before. Then, when the national anthem was sung, it was an amazing sight to see everyone standing in unison along with the Army Black Knights and the Navy Midshipmen. Both the Black Knights and the Midshipmen were teaming with energy and confidence before kickoff.

Then the game itself kicked off. Both teams started off slow by primarily using a run offense, which resulted in little to no scoring. The only scoring for the Navy was a field goal and the only scoring for the Army was a blocked punt that resulted in a touchdown. The score at halftime was 7-3 Army. It wasn't until the second half that both teams started utilizing a passing offense to go along with their run offense. A field goal from Army and a touchdown run from Navy led to the score being 10-10 at the end of regulation.

The game then went into overtime. It was the first time that the Army-Navy Game has ever gone into overtime. The energy of the Lincoln Financial Field crowd is just as big as it was an hour before kickoff. Both teams' offense picked up more in the first overtime as both teams scored a touchdown to make it 17-17 at the end of the first overtime. Finally, Army scored a field goal and Navy could not answer. The final score was 20-17 in favor of the Army Black Knights.

The Army-Navy Game was everything that I expected it to be. The atmosphere was second to none, the game was exciting, and the crowd was all the way into it. It was the game that I have always wanted to go to and I would like to go back went it comes back around to Philadelphia!
