Her success in gymnastics is unparalleled. Her skills are impeccable. Some of them are even named after her.
Legendary gymnast Simone Biles just recently qualified for her second Summer Olympic Games. She will represent the United States on the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team along with Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum, and MyKayla Skinner.
Throughout the years, Biles has amassed a plethora of unprecedented accolades in the sport of gymnastics. Many will remember the unforgettable performance that Biles gave at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, where she won 4 gold medals - 1 with the whole U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team, 1 All-Around, 1 in the Vault event, and the other one on Floor Exercise. Overall, Biles has won 5 Olympic medals (one of them was bronze on the balance beam in 2016). At the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Biles has placed first in 19 events, second in 3 events, and third in 3 events
It is very worth noting that Simone Biles has not lost an all-around event since 2013.
Recently in 2021, Biles became the first woman in gymnastics to complete a Yurchenko Double Pike. This led to her winning yet another U.S. Classic All-Around title. In June 2021, Biles then won her 7th All-Around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, further continuing her success at the event. It was in that same month hat Simone Biles had qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. These Olympics will be her second.
During the week of June 20-26, the Women's Gymnastics Finals ranked #1 among all sporting events, averaging 5.8 million viewers. Biles played a big part in those viewership numbers.
Simone Biles had always been a one-of-a-kind athlete. She has four of her skills named after her. Those skills being the Biles 6.4, the Biles H, the Biles I, and the Biles II. The Biles 6.4 is a skill that is used on the vault that consists of a yurchenko half-on front layout salto with double twist off. The Biles H is used on the balance beam. It consists of a double twisting double tucked salto dismount. The Biles I is a floor exercise that consists of a double layout half out. The Biles II is another floor exercise and it consists of a triple twisting double tucked salto.
Simone Biles is pushing the boundaries of the sport of gymnastics. She is continuing her success at an age where most gymnasts retire at. She is still at the top of her game and she is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
She is without a doubt the greatest gymnast of all time and her greatness should not be taken for granted.
