There are many underrated sports leagues in the United States and in the world in general. One of them is just starting and one that you should be on the lookout for.
Women's Professional Fastpitch was founded in 2021. The league is a professional softball league for softball players out of college. The inaugural season for the league occurred this past summer starting in June 2022. Former college softball star Lauren Chamberlain serves as the commissioner of Women's Professional Fastpitch. The headquarters of the league are located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Women's Professional Fastpitch consists of the USSSA Pride, the Oklahoma City Spark, and the Smash It Sports Vipers.
The league serves as a successor for two prior women's professional softball leagues: National Pro Fastpitch and the Women's Pro Softball League. However, Women's Professional Fastpitch is unrelated to those two leagues. National Pro Fastpitch began in 2004 and just recently wrapped up its final season in 2020. The 2021 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and led to the league folding.
When one league ended, another began. Softball and baseball fans should be on the lookout for the second season of Women's Professional Fastpitch, starting next year in 2023.
